Member Spotlight 2011 - Materials Exchanges

Reuse Markeplace is a search engine that allows you to browse available items from eight “Materials Exchanges” around the country. The materials exchanges can be websites and stores that make reusable items no longer needed by businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits available for sale or for free to anyone interested. Listers save money by not having to pay for disposing of the items and the lucky ones who take a listing save money on purchasing new items. It is also a winning scenario for the environment since a lot of reusable items don’t end up in landfills.

Minnesota Materials Exchange is a free service that links organizations possessing reusable goods they no longer need to those who can use them. This business reuse network helps prevent usable materials from becoming waste and saves users money. The Materials Exchange is a virtual exchange that services the entire State of Minnesota. Users benefit by receiving low or no-cost items, reducing disposal and purchase costs, freeing up storage space, and finding markets for surplus materials.
