PlanetReuse is a reclaimed construction materials brokerage firm founded on a simple idea – make reclaimed material reuse easier and more people will do it. Since 2008, the firm has been matching commercial materials with designers, builders, and owners to save projects money, earn L.E.E.D. points, and sustain the planet. This year, PlanetReuse will enter the residential reclaimed materials market by launching two new services to connect online, residential buyers with inventories from brick-and-mortar reused material retailers like the 750+ Habitat for Humanity ReStores nationwide: PlanetReuse Marketplace, an online store for residential buyers seeking reclaimed building materials; and InvenQuery™, a mobile application and web-based technology platform for reuse retailers. PlanetReuse continues to establish itself as a leader in the reclaimed building materials industry.
Boston Building Resources (BBR) accepts donations of new and used building materials and makes them available for sale at affordable prices. In addition, shoppers who meet BBR’s income guidelines, as well as nonprofit organizations, receive significant discounts off the prices offered to the public. BBR focuses on construction materials that can be reused in a residential setting. Donations to the Reuse Center at Boston Building Resources, founded in 1993, come from contractors, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and homeowners throughout eastern Massachusetts. A donation pick-up service is available, as is a soft deconstruction program, used primarily for kitchen deconstruction. In addition to affordable materials, BBR customers can take advantage of hands-on workshops that teach home repair skills. A tradesperson referral file is also available to members, as well as on-site technical assistance.
