Meet our new Executive Director,

Phoebe Schenker

Hello! I am so excited to write to you with the news that we recently hired a new Executive Director, Phoebe Schenker. Phoebe comes to Reuse Alliance from her recent position as the Chief Planning Officer of the Eames Institute - a nonprofit working to expand the use of design to solve problems. Prior to that she spent over 15 years working as an architect, primarily at EHDD in San Francisco, and as an exhibit designer always focused on sustainability and reuse. Her award winning projects include the Lands End Lookout in San Francisco and the New Seas Aquarium at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, WA (two of my most favorite spots!). She is a fellow UC Berkeley alumnus and received her MArch from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design, where her thesis was on the reuse of big box stores. She is also the founder of The Mending Library, a pop-up that helps people repair and rewear their clothes. We are delighted to have her at the helm and I can’t wait for you all to meet her.  Please feel free to reach out to her directly at phoebe@reusealliance.org

This is a critical juncture in reuse, and we are revitalizing the Reuse Alliance to ensure reuse practitioners have not only chairs, but a seat at the table.  We have mapped out a strategy to connect reuse practitioners to each other, to the public, to policy makers, and most critically to resources.  Please sign up for our Newsletter to follow along.

Want to give back and have spare time? Reach out to volunteer@reusealliance.org.

No time to spare, but want to give to the cause? Invest in Reuse Alliance - the more support we have the more we can grow the organization’s capacity to help reuse practitioner’s across the country to grow and thrive.  Donating a small amount helps move the system towards reuse - large donations are welcome to fuel us up faster!

Sincerely,

Nicole Tai
